Chicago Wolves / IBIDA Partnership
The Chicago Wolves are a very generous contributor to the Illinois Branch of The International Dyslexia Association (IBIDA). Late in 2005 the Chicago Wolves and IBIDA entered into a partnership based upon their common interest in encouraging increased reading in children. This year, two Chicago Wolves games will benefit our organization directly with $3 of every ticket sold supporting IBIDA.
The Wolves sponsor a READ TO SUCCEED program that encourages children to set and reach reading goals in conjunction with their local community library. Each year the Wolves have reached over 28,000 children in 105 libraries in the Chicago metropolitan area.
Every year the Wolves work with local area library associations and offer to support increased reading activity among children. Participant libraries develop their own program of reading goals for children in their area. The Wolves provide incentives for children to reach their goals and reward them once goals have been attained. As part of the program players visit participating libraries. They meet with children and their parents and talk about how necessary reading is to their lives as professional athletes.
